Caregivers sponsor Trivia Challenge

The High Country Caregiver Foundation (HCCF) will host its semiannual Trivia Night Challenge on April 25 at the La Quinta Inn in Boone.

HCCF is a nonprofit organization that has set out to offer Avery and Watauga caregivers the support and relief they so greatly deserve, a spokesperson for the foundation said. HCCF met and exceeded their financial goal last year and will seek to raise the bar even higher this year with their fundraising efforts in both Watauga and Avery counties, the spokesperson said. The charity has serviced more than 41 caregivers with respite care.

“Last year’s Trivia Challenge was a tremendous success for the foundation, and we predict this fun-filled event will be even bigger than the first one. We are asking community members, businesses, civic clubs and individuals to help us in supporting these caregivers by participating,” said Brenda Reece, executive director of HCCF.

Back by popular demand, Buzz Berry, host of local game show “Sqrambled Scuares,” and MTN-TV host Bill “Fish” Fisher will emcee the event.

“The trivia challenge will be an exciting evening where teams can match wits to earn prizes and bragging rights,” Reece said.

The admission fee of $20 includes prizes for each round, food, soft drinks and “plenty of laughs,” she said.

The reception begins at 6 p.m., when guests can purchase raffle tickets, enjoy their food and meet this year’s sponsors and hosts. A cash bar will be available for wine and beer purchases.

The trivia competition begins at 7 p.m. Teams of five to 10 players will be quizzed on a variety of general knowledge subjects.

For more information, or to register a team by phone, contact Reece at breece@regiond.org or (828) 265-5434, ext 128.
