The Blue Ridge Wine and Food Festival kicks off on Thursday,
April 16, with the annual Uncork the Festival gathering,
a celebratory evening of great wine and food. The event will
be held at the Meadowbrook Inn from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are
$35 per person.
In addition to the great food and wine, the evening will feature
live music by Dark Side of the Boone, a High Country classic
rock band with a penchant for playing the music of Pink Floyd.
Tickets are available at the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce
in advance and at the door at the Meadowbrook Inn.
The Uncork the Festival will also feature a raffle and a chance
to purchase Blue Ridge Wine and Food Festival merchandise.
The Blue Ridge Wine and Food Festival is an annual four-day
event that celebrates western North Carolinas emergence
as one of the premiere wine-making regions of the country.
The event includes wine-tastings, VIP wine dinners, the Fire
on the Rock Chefs Challenge, art competition, seminars
and other events.

Who would know which wines would go with which food courses
better than the vintner who created the wine in the first place?
Thats the premise behind one of the Blue Ridge Wine and
Food Festivals most popular events: the Wine Dinners.
Scheduled for Friday, April 17, the festivals wine dinners
match the best chefs and restaurants in the Blowing Rock area
with a variety of vineyards.
This year, the Manor House at Chetola Resort will host a dinner
featuring the wines of Childress Vineyards, the Gamekeeper will
feature the wines of St. Clair Vineyards, the Blowing Rock Grille
will feature the wines of Zuccardi Winery, Crippens Country
Inn will feature the wines of Hope Vineyards, the Inn at Gideon
Ridge will feature the wines of Moffett Winery, the Table at
Crestwood will feature the wines of X Winery, the Mast Farm
Inn will feature the wines of Shelton Vineyards, Rowlands
Restaurant at Westglow will feature the wines of Jed Steele
Wines, Glidewells Restaurant will feature the wines of Lapis
Luna Vineyards, and Christophers and Sweet Seasons will
feature the wines of the Biltmore Winery.
Prices for the wine dinners vary depending on the restaurant.

Wine and Art
The Galleries of Blowing Rock invite festival goers to an
evening of Wine and Art on Friday, April 17, from 5:30 to 8
p.m. Blowing Rock welcomes art patrons to enjoy its fine galleries
during the Blue Ridge Wine & Food Festival, and many galleries
will be serving hors d oeuvres and refreshments as part
of the event.
With most galleries within a few blocks of each other, this
event is ideal for exploring downtown Blowing Rock and enjoying
the innovative art and fine handcrafts of the villages
magnificent galleries.
In addition to downtown shops, visitors might also catch some
early spring site seeing and visit galleries along Shulls
Mills, Valle Crucis and Foscoe, which are participating, as
well.
Participating Galleries are Winterfire Gallery, Morning Star
Gallery, Gaines Kiker Silversmith/Goldsmith, Traditions Pottery,
Bob Timberlake Gallery, Christophers Wine and Cheese and
Main Street Gallery, all located in downtown Blowing Rock and
within easy walking distance of one another.
Other participating galleries are located in one of the areas
other scenic locations accessible by car. Beck and Beck Studio
and Gallery is located at 1530 Shulls Mill Road.
From there, visitors can travel to Carlton Gallery, located
at 10360 Hwy 105 South in the Foscoe Community. In Valle Crucis,
people will find Alta Vista Gallery, located 2839 Broadstone
Road.
