Annual Bluegrass and Old Time Music Fiddlers Convention
The Jeffersons Rotary Club's 39th Annual Bluegrass and Old Time Music Fiddlers Convention will be held at Ashe County Park on July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1. The club has awarded over $550,000 in scholarships since they first started. "Since the money raised is strictly for scholarships, we would like to draw as large a crowd as possible," said Vicky Moody, President of the Jeffersons' Rotary Club.

River House Hosts First Ashe Chamber Member BLAST
The much-anticipated first Chamber of Commerce Member BLAST of the year will be held Thursday, April 23, at the River House Country Inn and Restaurant, in Grassy Creek, from 5 until 6:30 p.m.

This is the first of its kind networking and social event for the Chamber and promises to be a very special affair. The Ashe Chamber hopes that each Chamber member attending would be able to bring a door prize representing their business to be given away through drawings during the evening. The Ashe Chamber is also asking that all consider participating in a new 50/50 drawing for cash prizes. Tickets can be purchased from Donna Pollard for $1 per ticket or $5 for six tickets. There will be food and drink.

Network for Aging and Disabilities Community Forum
Not sure where to go or call for information? Do you need information for you or a loved one who is elderly or disabled? Do you live in the outlying areas of the county near Riverview?

On Thursday, April 30, a community forum will be held at Riverview Community Center, located at 11719 NC Highway 88 West in Creston, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. learn about the new Community Resource Network for Aging and Disabilities, housed at Ashe Services for Aging. The new Resource Network will provide easy access to information and assistance through one phone number and one location. Find out what services are available and talk to service provider representatives about what they offer.

Lunch will be provided free of charge but a small donation would be appreciated to cover the costs of supplies. Be sure to get your name in for some great door prizes!

Art School Celebrating New Season of Classes
The Paul and Florence Memorial Art School will host an open house on Sunday, May 3 from 1 until 4 p.m. at the Lee House on the grounds of the Paul and Florence Memorial Art School in Glendale Springs. Join the Florence board in celebrating the new season of classes at the school. Enjoy refreshments and music on the grounds of the Art School. For more information, call (336) 846-2787.

Art-in-Healing Gallery Announces New Exhibit
The Caldwell Arts Council will display a new exhibit at the Caldwell Memorial Hospital Art-in-Healing Gallery. Artwork by members of the Brush and Palette Club will be on display now through June 29, and most will be available for purchase.
