Back by popular demand, the Hayes Performing Arts Center in Blowing Rock presents legendary bluegrass outfit the Lonesome River Band for one night only on May 16

Celebrating 26 years as one of bluegrass music’s most popular and influential acts, the current incarnation of the famous Lonesome River Band brings its signature sound to the High Country.

The Hayes Performing Arts Center presents the acclaimed quartet, back by popular demand after last year’s sold-out show, in concert for one night only on Saturday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m.

Like any great band whose success has endured throughout the years, vocalists and rhythm sections have come and gone since the release of Lonesome River Band’s breakout CD, Carrying the Tradition, in 1991, whose lineup included original members Sammy Shelor, Dan Tyminski, Ronnie Bowman and LRB founder Tim Austin.

Today, however, the group continues to enjoy critical and commercial success, due in no small part to current band leader Shelor’s distinctive, driving banjo style that was key to the group’s initial rise.

Tickets cost $20, $14 for students, and are available now by calling the box office at (828) 295-9627. You may pay by credit card or by cash (in person). Tickets can also be purchased online at www.HayesCenter.org by credit card. Special group rates are available. Season and Flex Passes can be purchased and used throughout the entire ‘09 season.

The Hayes Performing Arts Center is located at 152 Jamie Fort Road (off U.S. 321) in Blowing Rock. For more information, call (828) 295-9627
