Performers tell the story of the

All aspiring actors are invited to the Cooper Building on The
Crossnore School campus on Monday, May 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.
and on Saturday, May 16, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. to audition
for the third annual Miracle on the Mountain outdoor drama.
Miracle on the Mountain, a play by Bill Wilson is based on
Crossnore School founder Mary Martin Sloops memoir, Miracle
in the Hills. This drama recounts how the Sloops sought to realize
their personal mission of bringing education, medical care and
other improvements to the western North Carolina mountains from
the early 1900s to the 60s.
Play director Keith Smith and production coordinator Dana
Davis invite actors of all ages to attend this years auditions.
This year, the drama will be free of charge, held in the Sloop
Amphitheater on the Crossnore campus and presented July 30-31
and Aug. 1, 6 and 8, with shows beginning at 8 p.m. and one
matinee Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. Seats are reserved, and contributions
are encouraged.
The Crossnore School is a 97-year-old childrens home
and school serving children primarily from piedmont mountain
counties. Its mission is to provide hope and healing in a residential
homelike setting for children from families in crisis and its
vision is to break the cycle of abuse, abandonment and neglect
for children from families in crisis.
