All aspiring actors are invited to the Cooper Building on The Crossnore School campus on Monday, May 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, May 16, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. to audition for the third annual Miracle on the Mountain outdoor drama.

Miracle on the Mountain, a play by Bill Wilson is based on Crossnore School founder Mary Martin Sloop’s memoir, Miracle in the Hills. This drama recounts how the Sloops sought to realize their personal mission of bringing education, medical care and other improvements to the western North Carolina mountains from the early 1900s to the ’60s.

Play director Keith Smith and production coordinator Dana Davis invite actors of all ages to attend this year’s auditions.

This year, the drama will be free of charge, held in the Sloop Amphitheater on the Crossnore campus and presented July 30-31 and Aug. 1, 6 and 8, with shows beginning at 8 p.m. and one matinee Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. Seats are reserved, and contributions are encouraged.

The Crossnore School is a 97-year-old children’s home and school serving children primarily from piedmont mountain counties. Its mission is to provide hope and healing in a residential homelike setting for children from families in crisis and its vision is to break the cycle of abuse, abandonment and neglect for children from families in crisis.

For more information on The Crossnore School and ticket reservations, call (828) 733-4305. For audition information, contact Dana Davis at (828) 733-5241, ext. 211.
