An OASIS of hope

(Left) Brandy Hopkins, a survivor of domestic violence, addressed the crowd at the seventh annual Midnight at the OASIS fundraiser held Saturday. Hopkins shared the story of an abusive relationship she suffered and the support she has received from local organizations, including Opposing Abuse with Information, Services and Shelter (OASIS).

The agency provides services for residents of the High Country who have been affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. They offer crisis intervention programs, which include an emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. The agency also offers a 24-hour crisis line, advocacy, referral, support groups, educational programs and volunteer training.

Midnight at the OASIS is one of the largest fundraising events for OASIS, raising $12,000 last year. For more information or volunteer opportunities, visit www.oasisinc.org.
