Watauga High School held its Spring Pioneer Spotlight Ceremony
on April 27 recognizing members of the student body for their
positive characteristics.
Pioneer Spotlight is an aspect of the positive behavior recognition
program at WHS and is implemented by the schools School
Improvement Team, made up of teachers, students and administrators.
The program involves the recognition of a student by every teacher
each school year. One half of the faculty chooses a student
to recognize in the fall semester, and the rest of the faculty
chooses a student during the spring semester. Students recognized
in a previous semester are not eligible for recognition the
following semester.
The fall, Pioneer Spotlight was held on Nov. 17.
Students and their parents are invited to the ceremony each
semester where students are recognized by their teachers highlighting
the positive characteristics that the students display in class.
Each student received a T-shirt and a gift bag with goodies,
all provided by local business sponsors of the ceremony. Also,
special drawings allow students to have the chance to win additional
prizes including gift certificates and savings bonds provided
by local sponsors.
