The Todd Community Preservation Organization is

Tropical storms wreaking havoc in the mountain
communities of Appalachia is not just a recent phenomenon.
Nearly 100 years ago, two hurricanes converged and destroyed
many homes in the Basin Cove community. Caudle Cabin,
visible from the Wildcats Rock overlook on the Blue Ridge
Parkway, is one that survived the ravages of the ensuing
flood. Local historians will lead a guided hike through
Basin Cove on Saturday, Oct. 11. This almost twelve-mile
round-trip hike is strenuous and will take approximately
six to seven hours. The trip is limited to 20 and reservations
