Night Time is the Right Time
High Country Watering Holes Feature Games, Karaoke, Live Music & More

When the sun sets and the temperature drops, you might want to focus your attention on indoor games.

Fortunately, this area has no shortage of fantastic nightspots for wining, dining and sharing a joke or two. Like live music? We’ve got plenty of venues featuring everything from jazz to country to dance music. Want to watch some sports or play some video games? There are several sports bars in the area that feature karaoke, trivia games and the big screen televisions so wide that watching tennis on them will give you a sore neck. Looking for a quiet getaway for some serious face time with your new romantic interest? Nothing beats the atmosphere of a private booth at one of our mountainside restaurants.

Availability of libations varies from community to community. Some areas such as Deep Gap are totally dry. In Boone you can purchase beer and wine in a restaurant but can only buy liquor in state-run ABC stores. Some restaurants have “brown bag” permits allowing you to bring your own liquor and have drinks made by restaurant staff.
Banner Elk and Blowing Rock restaurants have beer, wine and liquor by-the-drink available for purchase. The selection available is up to the individual restaurant.
